Policies:
- In-home and virtual coaching sessions are pre-paid. If you need to reschedule your session, you can do so with a minimum of 24 hours' notice.
- In-clinic sessions are not pre-paid but still require a minimum of 24 hours' notice or a fee will be charged by the veterinary clinic.
- Due to travel between appointments, I may arrive up to 15 minutes before or after your scheduled time. Thank you for your flexibility — I will always text or call if there’s a significant delay.
- Cancellations for pre-paid services are required with a minimum of 24 hours' notice and are subject to a cancellation fee to cover merchant processing fees.
- No-shows are charged at the full rate.
- Safety is paramount. For in-home sessions with dogs who have a history of reactivity/aggression, please ensure your dog is secured (behind a baby gate, door, or on leash) before I arrive. This allows us to greet one another calmly and set your dog up for success. If your dog is unsecured and displays aggressive behaviour towards me on arrival, I reserve the right to end the session immediately. In this case, the full appointment fee will still apply.
Frequently Asked Questions
I work with a wide range of issues including fear at the vet, reactivity, aggression, handling sensitivities, separation anxiety, resource guarding, and puppy development concerns. I tailor each consult to the individual dog and guardian.
As a professional dog trainer and behaviour consultant, I always stay within my scope of practice. I do not diagnose medical conditions or recommend medication.
If diagnostics or pharmaceutical support is recommended, I will direct you to your veterinary team. When appropriate, I also flag relevant observations (e.g., pain suspicion, cognitive changes, or possible medical contributors to behaviour). This ensures that you receive cohesive, well-rounded care—while we respect everyone’s professional boundaries.
This is where we stop and reassess. Our first point of contact is your veterinarian and we can decide from there if a referral to a Board Certified Veterinary Behaviourist is appropriate. Some cases require this when your veterinarian and I are both out of our scope.
Yes. I provide a written summary and actionable next steps after every consult. If you would like your veterinarian copied on our notes, simply let me know in advance or you can forward the notes to them yourself.
Oftentimes, yes! If you have insurance with behaviour therapy coverage, we would simply need a prescription on file prior to the appointment check-out. Check with your veterinarian and insurance provider in advance of our session.
